Czechia finish World League campaign on high note

Seoul, Korea, July 3, 2016 - The Czech Republic finished their participation in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 on a high note, mastering a 3-0 (25-19, 32-30, 25-23) victory over Egypt in the last match of the tournament in Korea.

Young Donovan Dzavoronok led the Czech spikers with 14 attacking points, to which he added one ace and one blocking point to top his team’s scoring chart with 16 points. Jan Hadrava assisted with 15, but it was Egypt’s Ahmed Elkotb who was the best scorer of the match with 19 points.

This was only the second encounter between Czechia and Egypt in the World League. The European side took revenge for that 2-3 loss to the African squad they suffered earlier this season.

From the beginning of the first set through to the end of the last set, the Czech Republic took the control and the lead easily. Egypt constantly made unforced errors on service and reception. During the whole match, despite making a few errors themselves, including net touch, the Czechs pressed hard on Egypt with successful and sharp attacks.

Egypt fought to take over the lead with strong concentration, but that was not enough to change the course of the match. Czechia and Egypt had seven deuces in the second set of the match and that made it look like a close match.

In the last set, Egypt tried harder to take control with more powerful and successful attacks and led the score at the first technical time-out, but they could not keep it up and let Czechia take the match easily.
