Italy's Birarelli: We need the victory

More Italy celebrations

Tehran, Iran, July 1, 2016 – Luca Vettori starred with 19 points as Italy edged Argentina 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22) in front of a rapturous Tehran home crowd bearing the love of Argentinean coach in heart on the opening night of week 3.

Emanuele Birarelli, Italy captain: "We played well in first and second sets. But in the third and fourth sets we were too much nervous and played upside downs. We are satisfied we this victory at the end.

Julio Valance, Head coach of Argentina: "Congratulations to the Italian team. They played better than us. We suffered from their serves. We only created a few problems with their receptions. I think the big difference was high ball attack. After reception and defense, Italy made the difference."

Blengini Gianlorenzo, Head coach of Italy: "We are so satisfied with the results. We showed our power. We were both good at serves and changing the situation with counter attack in the first two sets. At the third set, Argentina troubled us and we lost focus. It was a good match and we are so happy to win at the end."

Luciano De Cecco, Argentina Captain: "First of all congratulations to Italy. They played well. Now we are looking forward to tomorrow’s match  against Serbia."
