France begin World League defence in Sydney

 

France won the 2015 World League in Brazil

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 27, 2015 – France will begin the defence of their FIVB Volleyball World League title in Sydney, where they will take on Australia, Italy and Belgium.

The four teams will meet at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre on June 17, 18, 19, when France take on Italy and Australia meet Belgium in the opening matches.

The World League will start on Thursday 16 June in Rio de Janeiro where Brazil welcome World League bronze medallists USA, Iran and Argentina to South America. 

The third opening weekend pool will take place in Kaliningrad, where Russia open up against World League silver medallists Serbia and where reigning FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship gold medallists Poland face fellow east Europeans, Bulgaria. 

There are set to be another two weekends of World League action on consecutive weekends before the Final Round from July 13-17 which culminates with the gold medal match on Sunday July 17.
