Brazilian men retain top spot in FIVB World Ranking

 

Brazil retain their place at the top of the men's world ranking after finishing second in the FIVB Volleyball World League

Lausanne, Switzerland, July 19, 2016 – Brazil continue to hold on to the top position in the latest FIVB World Ranking – Men, while five other teams – Poland, Russia, Italy, USA and Argentina – also retained their positions from No.2 to No.6, respectively.

Brazil, who finished second in the FIVB Volleyball World League, earned 45 points to keep their position, while winners Serbia remain at the No.9 spot with 50 points. Germany and Bulgaria switched places at No.7 and No.8, with the former taking the higher spot. Iran remain in the top 10.

Italy, who finished fourth in the World League, managed to keep their hold on No.4, and bronze medal finishers France also held on to place No.11.

Chinese Taipei, Qatar and Turkey made big leaps forward in the ranking. Chinese Taipei moved up nine places, while Qatar and Turkey moved up six and five places, respectively. While these three teams made significant climbs, Montenegro had the biggest drop, losing 10 places.

Continental Championship rankings have not been factored into the new senior men's world ranking, following a decision by the FIVB Board of Administration.
