Slovenia aiming to continue Tunisian woes

 

Ljubljana, Slovenia, June 18, 2016 – Tunisia have not beaten a European side at a major tournament in 76 attempts and will be looking to end that run against Slovenia on Saturday in the FIVB Volleyball World League.

Head-to-Head
· Tunisia and Slovenia will face each other for the first time at a major tournament.  
· Tunisia have lost all of their previous six matches against CEV sides at the World League. 
· Tunisia have lost their last 76 matches against CEV sides at major tournaments (Olympic Games, World Championship, World Cup, World League and European Championship), since beating 3-2 Finland at the 1958 European Championship after trailing 2-0.

Tunisia
· Tunisia lost in straight sets against Venezuela in their 2016 World League opener.
· Another loss would see Tunisia equalling their longest losing streak in World League history, as they also lost five in a row in 2014.
· Tunisia have record back-to-back straight-set defeats only once in the World League as they lost 3-0 against both Montenegro and Turkey in 2015.
· In the second set against Venezuela, Tunisia scored 26 points, their second highest tally in a single set after scoring 27 in the first set against Puerto Rico in 2015 (29-27 loss).

Slovenia
· Slovenia defeated fellow debutants Qatar 3-1 in their very first World League match.
· Mitja Gasparini scored a team-high 19 points against Qatar. He also served a match-high five aces.
· Jani Kovacic became Slovenia's best digger with 12 digs.
