Almaty, Kazakhstan, June 25, 2016 – Chinese Taipei charted their third victory in Group 3 of the FIVB Volleyball World League via a 3-1 match (25-23, 16-25, 30-28, 25-21) against Germany at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace on Saturday.
Ke-Chou Chen, coach of Chinese Taipei: “I think today is all amazing. Germany’s team is very strong and very hard to play against. Today, my players performed a little better. To be honest, we never think about the finals. Our aim was just to play against strong teams We feel lucky that we are able to enjoy the way we play volleyball."
Chien-Chen Chen, captain of Chinese Taipei: “We never had the opportunity to play against a very strong team like Germany. We tried to enjoy our game and we are very lucky to win.”
Vital Heynen, coach of Germany: “Congratulations to Chinese Taipei. I am not surprised with it because yesterday they played a good game. I want to congratulate the coach because he made some good substitutions and that changed the game. I also want to congratulate the captain. Aside from having a great name that I will always remember, he is, of course, a great player.”
Dirk Westphal, captain of Germany: “They (Chinese Taipei) played a good match today while we had to fight for every point. We had a lot of ups and downs. We had good streaks and bad streaks. I think in some moments, we were hesitating a bit too long to make those important points. We have to keep on working to be in shape for the finals.”
