Wouter Ter Maat beats the block from Marcel Keller Gil and Bruno Cunha
Izmir, Turkey, June 18, 2016 - Wouter Ter Maat scored match-high 17 points as Netherlands prevailed over Portugal in straight sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-17) at the FIVB World League tournament in Izmir on Saturday.
Netherlands kicked off the 2016 World League with two victories addind a 3-0 win over Portugal to a 3-1 victory over Slovakia after losing the first set on Friday. Portugal registered second defet after losing against Turkey 3-1.
In set one Netherlands establishen an early lead and managed to buil up the advantage even to 13-6 in the mid stage of the set. Portugal was not able to respond and lost 25-14.
Set two saw again a strong start for Netherlands who quickly went 7-2 up and was extending the lead until eventual win 25-18 scoring five points from blockig.
Set three had the same pattern as Netherlands raced off qucikly to a 4-0 lead. And it was again Netherlands who were totally controlling the proceedings on the court sealing their victory at 25-17.
