Seoul, Korea, June 30, 2016 - Korea will try to use the home-court advantage at the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 tournament in Seoul to finally achieve their first win in the competition. On Friday they face Czechia, a team well in contention for a spot in the finals.
Head-to-Head
• Korea and Czech Republic have met eight times at the World League. They met four times in both 2014 and 2015.
• Czech Republic won three of the four matches in both editions, making it a total of six wins and two losses.
• Czech Republic have won the last two encounters, when they won in the same weekend 3-2 and 3-1.
• Korea's first win over Czech Republic came in straight sets. This was the only World League encounter between these teams that ended in straight sets.
Korea
• Korea Republic are looking for their first win in the 2016 World League. Korea is the only team from Group 2 without a victory in this edition.
• They are currently suffering a losing streak of 12 World League matches. They can lose 13 in a row for the first time since a run of 13 defeats from 2011-2012.
• Their last match against China ended in a 3-1 loss. Although this was their first set win since losing 3-2 against Finland in the opening weekend of the 2016 World League.
• The team's oldest player, Hak-Min Kim, scored a team-high 68 points in the 2016 World League.
Czech Republic
• Czech Republic are currently on a three match winning streak. They defeated Netherlands, Cuba and Slovakia all in five sets.
• They can play four consecutive five-setters for the first time ever in the World League.
• They can win four in a row for the first time since they won eight consecutive matches in 2003. They came fourth in the tournament that year, still their best World League finish ever.
• Michal Finger scored a team-high 113 points so far in the World League, at least 50 more than any of his teammates. Donovan Dzavoronok is second with 63.
