Czechs and Dutch clash in race for the finals

Seoul, Korea, July 1, 2016 - A clash between two teams that are still in contention for the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 finals, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, is scheduled to close the second competition day of the tournament in Seoul.

Head-to-Head
• Czech Republic and Netherlands have met five times in the World League.
• Their most recent meeting came on 23 June, when Czech Republic prevailed after five sets.
• Their other four meetings in the World League all came in 2014 with the Netherlands winning all four of them.
• Last year, these teams met in the European Championship group stage. Netherlands defeated Czech Republic by 3-1.

Czech Republic
• Czech Republic had a three-match winning streak at the World League snapped on Friday when they suffered a 3-0 defeat against Korea.
• Czech Republic could lose back-to-back World League matches for the first time since five on the trot in June 2015.
• Czech Republic have a positive balance in the World League, winning 25 and losing 23 of 48 previous encounters. This year they also have more wins than losses (four to three).
• Ten of Czech Republic’s 23 World League defeats have come in straight sets.
• Michal Finger has scored a team high 126 points at this year's World League, almost twice as many as Czech Republic's next most prolific goalscorer Donovan Dzavoronok (65).

Netherlands
• Netherlands beat Egypt 3-1 on Friday, which improved their 2016 World League record to five wins and two defeats.
• Netherlands can win four World League matches in a row for the first time since June-July 2014, when they beat Korea twice and Czech Republic twice.
• Netherlands have now won their last four matches in which they took the first set. The last team to beat the Dutch after losing the first set was Belgium in July 2015 (3-2 after 0-1).
• Netherlands can lose a World League match for the 125th time. They could become the eighth side to reach that number of defeats.
