Laurent Tillie took over France's men's team in 2012. His first international coaching job was with the Czech Republic's men's team from 2005 to 2006. In the intervening period he was the coach of French club team AS Cannes, from August 2001 to June 2012. Tillie played 406 matches for France, captaining the side from 1991 to 1992. Tillie, from Algiers, won two European Championships medals with the team, taking home bronze in 1985 and silver in 1987. He also played at the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games. As a club player he won seven French league titles, two French Cups and a CEV Cup. His son Kevin has also represented France, as did his father Guy.
