Velasco: I want to thank the Iranian fans

Julio Velasco thanked the Iranian fans for their support to Argentina.

Tehran, Iran, July 2, 2016 - Argentina thrashed Serbia in straight sets handing the European side their second straight defeat in the FIVB World League, as the Tehran fans routed for former Iran and currently Argentina coach Julio Velasco.

Argentina Captain Luciano De Cecco: We are very happy with this win. We played a good and aggressive volley. We served well. I think tomorrow's match against Iran will be difficult due to the crowds.

Argentina Coach Julio Velasco: I agree with my captain. Our serve was good today. We started the match so badly and then begin to play better. I want to thank the Iranian public who supported us. But tomorrow will be different and it is so difficult a match. My players have the opportunity to improve in these conditions.

Serbia Captain Dragan Stankovic: There is nothing special to say. We did not play well. We start the match very well up to the 6th point and we could win, but after that we stopped and deserved to lose the game.

Serbia Coach Nikola Garbic: I had better not to say what I feel. I am very disappointed, not because of the result but about the way we played. I hope the reason of playing like this is not that we have already qualified to the Final Six. We are not at a position to think of who we are playing. We have to carry a good approach to every game, against every opponent. We need to play with aggression, concentration and determination which did not happen unfortunately tonight. I hope tomorrow we are the same up until against Iran in the third set. We did not play with Atanasijevic as he has some minor injury in his leg and instead we played with Luburic whom we just discovered. He had good performances against Russia, Bulgaria and Iran.
