Poland deny Belgium in thrilling five-setter

Poland managed to stop Belgium on Sunday

Nancy, France, July 3, 2016 - After losing to Brazil yesterday Belgium conceded another tiebreak, falling to Poland 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 25-20, 13-15) in Nancy on Sunday.

Belgium dominated early in the first set. The highlight of the set was Sam Deroo's shone with a special "Ngapeth move" which put his side 24-18 in front. He stopped Poland's top scorer Konarski with a kill block to finish the set, 25-19.

Konarski got his revenge in the following two sets, taking Poland two tight 25-23 and 25-22 wins in sets which could easily have gone to Belgium.

In the fourth set Lecat came on for Rousseaux. This was the substitution Beglium needed as he scored 9 points in the fourth set alone. The outside-spiker led the Red Dragons to a convincing 25-20 victory forcing the tiebreak.

In the final set Belgium saw themselves falling quickly behind. They managed an incredible comeback going from from 4-10 to 13-14, but they just missed the win, with Poland snatching the tiebreak, 15-13.

Belgium did not qualify for the Final Six tournament in Krakow, with Poland, the hosts, guaranteed a spot.
