Kovacevic's 19-points haul keeps Serbia on winning streak

Belgrade, Serbia, June 25, 2016 - Serbia's Uros Kovacevic scored match-high 19 points as his team overcome Iran 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-18, 25-21) in Pool F1 encounter at the World League 2016.

The second best scorer for Serbia was Drazen Luburic with 18 points while Shahram Mahmoudi (17) and Hamzeh Zarini (15) topped the rankings in the loosing team.

Serbia claimed their sixth victory in as many matches in the 2016 World League.




Both teams started the match very focused, but soon Seria gained momentum to race out to an early 8-3 lead. Iran were chasing and managed to reduce the gap to two points only, but in the late stage Serbia easily finished with 25-19 in their favour.

Set two saw an Iran's narrow advantage at the beginning and Serbia's run to catch their opposition which finally happened at 24-24. But two blocks from Iran secored them a 26-24 win.



In set three Serbia took early the control of the game and didn't lose it until the end, winning comfortably 25-18.

In the fourth set points were evenly distributed between the teams until 20-20 as Serbia gained a narrow advantage to finish off the set 25-21 on an ace from Marko Podrascanin.
