Brazil conclude successful Slovenian series

Brazil will begin their World League campaign against Iran on June 16

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, May 27, 2016 - The Brazilian men's team brought an end to a successful series of friendlies against Slovenia on Thursday, including three wins and a draw. The fourth match was played over four sets with each team claiming two (25-16, 24-26, 25-17 and 20-25).

Brazilian middle blocker Eder said: "Although today's game ended with each team winning two sets, these friendlies have helped to build a base for the team and to create connections between the players. The group has trained together every day and built up a rhythm in matches. This is an important process in the team's growth as it prepares to manage pressure from teams across the net. Slovenia share characteristics with other teams we will play soon and we have trained areas of play we know will be useful in the months to come. So the series has been very positive."

Coach Bruno Rezende used the matches against Slovenia to test different combinations of players ahead of the beginning of the FIVB Volleyball World League. Brazil will start their Group 1 campaign in Rio de Janeiro on June 16 against Iran, before playing Argentina and USA.

Brazil take on neighbours Argentina in a couple of friendlies next week. They travel to Argentina on Tuesday, May 31.
