Atanasijevic tops the scoring charts in Italy's Superleague

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 9, 2016 - Serbia’s Aleksandar Atanasijevic has finished joint top scorer in the Italian men’s UnipolSai Superleague following the completion of the regular season. His team Sir Safety Conad Perugia now join seven others in the play offs from March 10 to April 3.

Atanasijevic and CMC Romagna’s Maurice Torres both scored 450 points in 22 matches, but the Serbian outside hitter had a better points-per-set rating of 5.42 to the Puerto Rican’s 4.95.

Cuba’s Fernando Hernandez eclipsed Torres in points per set with 5.19 but could only manage 441 points overall and finished the season in third place.

Hernandez topped the best servers in both absolute (55 aces) and relative (0.65 per set) numbers, while Atanasijevic was second with 42 aces.

The best blocker was Bulgaria’s Viktor Yosifov of Ninfa Latina with 72 blocks (0.84 per set), followed by Argentina’s Sebastian Sole of Diatec Trentino with 62.
