Argentina set to present World League squad

 

Juan Velasco is set to announce an enlarged squad for the World League and Rio 2016

Buenos Aires, Argentina, May 24, 2016 – Argentina coach Juan Velasco will introduce the players he will use for the FIVB Volleyball World League and Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games campaigns on Tuesday. 

The presentation will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel at 15.30 and features the unveiling of the new Argentina kit for the season ahead. 

Argentina will return to World League Group 1 and will start with a match against the USA in Rio de Janeiro on June 16. They also face Brazil and Iran on the opening weekend before they travel to Lodz in Poland to face the host nation, 2015 champions France and London 2012 Olympic champions Russia. 

On the final weekend of the group stage Argentina will face Iran, Italy and Serbia in Tehran. 

Prior to the World League beginning Argentina will face Olympic hosts Brazil in two friendly matches. The first will take place on June 2 in Jujuy and the second on June 4 in Salta. 

Once the World league is over Argentina will turn their attention to the Olympic Games. They qualified as winners of the South American Olympic Qualifier and will try to better their quarterfinal finish at London 2012 in the tournament that runs from August 6-21.
